Forget Boateng, Good News For Manchester United As They Are Confident Of Reaching £40M Agreement For Star Defender

Reports suggested Manchester United had cooled their interest in Belgium Star Toby Alderweireld. However, claims have emerged that talks are still ongoing for the transfer of the 29-year old defender.
Mourinho had earlier made the Defender his top signing as he seeks to find a suitable partner for Eric Baily. However, Tottenham have refused to budge on their evaluation of the defender.
The north London club have sounded it out that Alderweireld would cost around £60 million. However, it is reported that United are confident of a £40 million deal will be accepted for the defender whose contract runs out next year.
Alderweireld has been tagged a contract rebel at Tottenham after refusing to extend his contract which runs out in the summer of 2019 with a club option to extend for another year. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is known as a difficult negotiator and he is holding out for a premium price for the 29-year-old.
Alderweireld had a mixed season falling out with head coach Mauricio Pochettino amid his refusal to accept the contract offer from Spurs. The player made just 14 premier league appearances for Tottenham as the premier club finish 3rd in the league.
Mourinho has looked for alternatives with Bayern Munich reportedly offering German Star Jerome Boateng to United. Boateng is the same age as Alderweireld and costs less with many reports indicating Bayern are ready to sell for £30 million, but with his latest display against Sweden at the World Cup, the Red Devils could yet look for other options.
