Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has grown caution concerning the race for top four and is aware of Chelsea’s strengths.

Chelsea’s resilient 3-2 comeback win away to Southampton along with Man United’s shock 1-0 home loss to West Brom is worrying the former Blues boss.

When speaking after United’s recent defeat, Mourinho is quoted by MUTV, revealing that he is alerted to the battle for a spot in the Champions League next season.

“We still have the fourth position to fight for because Chelsea won yesterday [Saturday] and we lost.”

As the Red Devils officially gave away the Premier League title to rivals Manchester City on Sunday, it’s no surprise that Mourinho has turned his attentions elsewhere.

It may seem impossible, but this was still a major blow for United and it could affect their results in the future, Chelsea can only capitalise on any dropped points.

As it stands though, Mourinho’s men are 11 points ahead of Antonio Conte’s side who sit in a measly fifth place in the table.
